Sorry for the relatively ignorant question. I need to replace my tyres & was just going to swap like for like. On currently are Goodyear Wrangler HP 255/55r18. I can’t seem to find the make in that size for some reason. I can get 255/60r18 - is there any reason why that wouldn’t be compatible?

I’ve got a separate ‘how to trouble shoot sun roof malfunction without taking off the headliner…’ - but I’ll leave that for another time!

Thanks vm

255/60 x 18 are approx 5% larger diameter than standard.
There is usually a better tyre choice at this size than 255/55 x 18 & the extra sidewall depth should make the ride slightly better / softer.
I use them on my D2 TD5 for those reasons.

If you go for them, your speedo will underread slightly - be careful near to speed limits !
If you've got a standard engine, you may notice a slight reduction in acceleration in a specific gear & if you've got an auto g.box the lock-up speed will go up slightly, meaning worse fuel economy if you travel just below that speed.
The difference in diameter is not enough to cause any contact with bodywork etc.
PS as the speedo (& mileometer) underreads by 5% with these tyres, you're calculated fuel economy will appear 5 % worse. However, you'll need to modify any calculations you make by the 5% to get a tue figure.

Thanks both - very kind of you. Bit of a conundrum - the like for like albeit bigger is substantially cheaper than the equivalent type in the right size - but the saving gets written off the moment I don’t attention to the speedo! Decisions decisions!
