Got a d2 16p td5 Ecu and wiring loom...planning to put into my defender.

Want to get it running on the floor before installation. Taking the ecu to sort the immobiliser issue this week.

Don’t have a bcu tho...(unnecessary in a defender I think)... and planning to change the gearbox from auto to R380. Does the tuning shop need to do anything else to the ecu while I’m there??

Anyone on here have any gen on a project like with a td5 much appreciated!

Pretty sure you will need a Defender ECU, as the Discovery ECU requires a BCU.

They are the same but when first set up become Defender or Discovery, not sure how.

There was a bloke wrote into LRO about this a couple of months ago. Apparently it made his temp and fuel gauges run backwards as the ecus are model specific. Apparently it will effect the fuelling etc... too it said, as they are set up to be optimal for the weight and tyre size of that model.

Depending on the part number of the ecu (starts NNNxxxxxx) it can be reprogrammed for Defender software. Earlier ECUs (MSBxxxxxx) can’t be reprogrammed
