Hi all
Bought a td5 this week and already its started being a land rover with me.
Its an intermittent problem which has happened twice so far.. When pulled off going into second gear it feels like its missing hesitating. Sometimes it drives through but twice the eml light has come on and all power is lost but doesn't cut out.
After pulling over turning it off and back on again its fine. The first time it happened I got home and cleaned the map sensor thought this fixed it cause for rest of day it was sound but it happened again this morning.
Any ideas as my knowledge on td5s could be written on a stamp lol thanks

First thing you need to buy or borrow, maybe steal is a fault code reader that works with the td5. Nanocom, hawkeye, lynx etc. Do not trust a generic code reader as 99.9% of the time it will not work correctly with the td5 engine or other onboard systems thanks to LR not using an industry standard system. You will need one if you're gonna keep the Disco.
Others will probably offer similar advice.

What year and what kind of gearbox? these are very important elements to have an ideea about what can be wrong... though as the EML was once on it's compulsory to read the fault code, on the Td5 this warning can be triggered only by the TPS or CPS inputs

Hi its a 2004 manual
EML has come on but gone as soon as I cut and restart engine

No, just unplug it and see how it goes after that, if it runs better and doesnt make tricks then you know and you dont have to plug it back untill you put a new one, you can drive it so as long as you want

May be a turbo hose laminating and blocking the air flow.
