the engines are exactly the same so as stated same problems just expect the problems sooner being on gas it aggrevates the porus issue
 
I thought the later 4.0 v8 with the more tubular looking inlet was ok, didn't have the problems the early p38 4.0 and 4.6's had??
 
You could argue that as the tooling got worn, the problems actually got worse with the later engines.

Weren't all the blocks inspected and the better ones put into into 4.6s? Didn't seem to stop the problems though.

There are good blocks out there, just hard to tell.
 
i have a brand new 4.6 block in my house never used and i'm getting it top hat linnered when i use it next year! it has the fabled red paint of qc but still is not worth the chance!
as regardes the latter engine doing as many rebuild on the thor spec as gems
