Evening all, I had what I thought was a leaking rear caliper however it looks like it is more likely gear oil. I need to have a proper look in the daylight but am I right in thinking the seals are not the same as the d1/Defender and a new hub is probably needed?

Hi Tom,
There is a rubber O ring (Part 2 in attached link) which may have gone. Easy to replace. No need to take hub off drive shaft - just pull complete unit out. http://www.allbrit.de/UNI.cfm?PAGE=817912&SPRACHE=EN
I had exactly the same thing but unfortunatley a new O ring didn't cure it and had to replace the hub.

Thanks Griff, not sure whether to try the o ring or just replace the whole thing - they don’t look expensive and I’m not into doing things twice

Just check that the weld has not cracked at the end of the axle tube,they have been known to separate...

Most likely the hub itself I'm afraid.

99% hub, you really are best to order up & do both sides as at this point, if one has gone, the other won't be far behind.

New hub sorted. Was quite straightforward, will do the other side at some point soon. Now just need to find out why the battery is discharging and it's back on the road!
