You dont have to try anything , if you connect a dedicated tester you can read it or change it and remember it...as long as you know what's stored in the BCU you'll have to use it only when necessary no need for testing only the latch must work well for it cos if the latch switch is making tricks the code is useless

i did try the code 1515 and it went through the motions saying incorrect code ect so i know the latch and associated gubbins is working and talking to each other,
i was speaking to another friend with hawkeye pro gear today when its mot is sorted ill get it to him to have a read of it and see if theres anything troubling it and can get him to check eka at the same time

it was more so to put eka to a memorable number than anything else, the car is running locking unlocking as it should other than a nsf door lock mechanism not lifting the latch -but it doesnt seem to be affecting the imobiliser and alarm side of things,probably a linkage or something

That'll probably be the "motor" which drives the unlocking of the mechanism rather than just the linkage. The locking motor is probably working alright.

The same thing has happened to my r/n/s door and sadly it requires a complete change of the mech. it's the only way. Got the part, just waiting for some warmer weather.

I am having trouble wit the car due to immobilisation.

The problem started with a key problem. The does not unlocked the car and alarm start to went off. And the car immobilised. Even in the local licensed dealer/service can not solve the issue. I transfered the car to an old technician. What they told me is When they connected the car to the T4 diagnostic everything went normal and the car is starting and working very well. When they disconnect the car immobilising again and not starting.

He say we cannot program with T4 diagnostic because BCU is on the limit of reprogramming. İt cannot limit reprogramming again. So I have 3 main questions:

1. Does BCU has a limit of reprogramming/or reseting to remobilise the car? I assume T4 is the original LR service machine and should do anything. Also I do not think if BCU has a limit for that. if there is, how to reset it.
2. Is there any way to fix with T4 diagnostic tool?
3. In Turkey, NANOCOM is not sold and bringing is not very easy because of the Customs. Is there any other solutuons that can help?

Your advises are much appreciated.

So did you see that yourself or is just what they said cos it seems impossible to me as while the vehicle is immobilised no diagnostic tool could communicate with the BCU or if by some oddity it would then the immobiliser can be disabled

I've never heard about such thing nor stated in any official LR document and i i've seen them all, the BCU is fully programmable and i really doubt it has any limit once a dedicated diag tool is connected to it and that's what T4 is.

Then get the EKA code and you can remobilise it with that untill you fix the fob or ask them to disable the immobiliser

No I have not seen it. They told me that via phone.


Then get the EKA code and you can remobilise it with that untill you fix the fob or ask them to disable the immobiliser
I bought a new brand new fob. They can not link it to the car. They tried fob to another vehicle to test if the fob working.
 
My battery went flat. New battery installed but remote not working. Car is new to me and I was not sure if the remote was working prior to the flat battery. When I turned on the ignition lights would come on but no response to trying to start. Friend has a diagnostic unit and it would not communicate with the BCU. Scratched head and started searching, didn’t have a an EKA code. Found this thread. Used the key in the door to enter the 1515 code. Car started!!!! Remote not working the central locking.

On the Discovery Series II Workshop Manual - 1999MY ON - 6th Edition - Eng version.

It states that "The ECM uses a 'flash' electronic erasable programmable read only memory (EEPROM). This enables the ECM to be externally configured, to ensure that the ECM can be updated with any new information, this also allows the ECM to be configured with market specific data. TestBook must be used to configure replacement ECM's. The ECM canbe reconfigured up to 16 times to meet changing specifications and legislation."

Do you think BCU may have a similar reconfiguration limit?

The technician insisting that the BCU is not programmable any more and he cannot configure it.

No i dont... and IMHO that "16 times" for the ECM is also b0ll0x .... if it's programmable it can't have such limitations
