can be done for less that £10 and can utilize the original alarm or an aftermarket one.
It wont stop a determined thief, but if enough people copied the idea it would get a reputation and theft would go down. Same system could be applied to anything external like a winch or roof box etc. I have tested this last night with a spare pin switch and it works a treat.

Had mine stolen today in mirfield , in broad daylight. Where the best place for replacements, all necessary parts, also they snipped the loom so more work needed to reconnect , is it a new loom from bulb holder to somewhere or a multi plug.
Would like a photo of the straps, from PC, and am working at Bishopsgarth 2 or 3 days a week.

Check ebay. You may be able to buy your old lights back.
Sorry I had to say it. Whatever you do, DONT be tempted to buy used ones from ebay unless you can guarantee they are coming from a legal source. The only way to prevent these lights being nicked is to stop them being easy money for the thiefs.

The facelift headlamp "glass" is acrylic plastic.
They can be chemical etched quite easily, and no, it's not an MoT fail; there's a nice sloping edge to the top of the glass which is easily seen but markings have no effect on the beam pattern.
A company called Dantech does a kit for etch marking plastic, but do make sure that you follow their instructions to the letter especially regarding times or else you're going to end up with a gooey mess.

personally I would both alarm them using a switch as someone said and I would bolt 4 straps on each light THROUGH them m 2 top and two bottom on each light
that way it wont ruin the look of the vehicle and will be bloody hard to pull off even by breaking them , if done correctly they will not be able to pull them off at all ??
also as someone else mentioned a sticker would be good , the Tesco Mercedes vans have a sign saying " the catalectic converter on the vehicle is secured " they put a bloody great chain on them

Just had my headlights nicked..cost £775 to have them replaced!!!!.apparently..Guy Salmon Land Rover dealership in Sheffield had six Brand new Discos done in one night...Reason....they are used and perfect for growing Cannabis quickly!!!. so why would druggies pay a fortune for "High power grow lights" with huge eleccy bills when they can nick 12v disco lights

I now know how they are stolen, and yes it is destructive.
It either damages the lamps themselves, or it breaks the plastic mount, which is usually held to the lamp with rusted screws, which you cannot remove..
So I cannot see how stolen head lamps can be used as they are basically broken.
So where is the market for broken ones?
