Hi, I've spent this hot afternoon sealing up the rear sunroof on my disco with sealant. Changing the rubber seals, re-greasing and cleaning the drain pipes didn't work, I've had enough of it. Hardly ever open the thing so now its a fixed glass panel in the roof. Will wait and see if it still leaks. Probably.
Having completed that I was looking around for other places where the water could be getting in (and it so gets in). At the front of the roof along the top of the windscreen is a rubber strip. It does not seem to be bonded to the roof and pealing the top of it down (easy) shows a deep channel full of bits of leaf. Clearly the water runs down the front of the metal roof and straight in here. I can't see how this drains.
Any good reason why I shouldn't fill this channel with tiger seal and get it firmly stuck to the roof? Should it be firmly stuck to the roof? Pros / cons?
Thanks,
M
