Ok. So I've always wanted a proper LR (not a Chelsea tractor) I've now been lucky enough to get a D1. What's lucky is it's free. A good mate and work colleague wants it gone as he no longer uses it. It's a 1995 model and it's the 3.9 V8 SE top spec. It's just had a £1200 LPG kit fitted too 6 months ago. I really can't miss this opportunity.......... Only problem is apart from the classic rusted boot floor. (Which I can sort with sheet of checkaplate metal) The front inner wheel arches where they meet the bulkhead have rusted through. So my question is this?
1- is this an MOT fail.
2- how much is this going to cost to fix

Cheers fellow landy owners. I look forward to the replies

Yes it is an MOT fail on both sides, and you cant chequer plate the boot floor it has to be welded aswell

Cheers V8 man. Has anyone experienced this. I hear it's a common fault. But need to know how much this is gonna cost to fix.

You can get the replacement parts from YRM metal solutions.. Google that and thats a rough idea of materials...

Cheers. Now I just need to find someone to weld them in. Really want to get this beauty back on the road

I brought myself a mig welder, grinder and was shown by my uncle who's a welder briefly how to weld..

By the time you've finished your truck you'll be a lot better at welding than when you started!

Look on ebay for a cheapish second hand welder. Whats the worst that can happen? lol

Totally agree with the above comment, even if you find a proffessional that will weld it for reasonable cost, it will prob be to a poor standard and you'll be dissapointed and it will need doing again a few years down the line.
well thats the experience ive had on another classic of mine, then i bought a cheapish mig and was surprised how easy it was to pick up after some practice, you really have nothing to lose

Youtube has videos on how to weld.and get some scrap metal and weld it together.anx practise.and youtube videos on how boot floor is done and welding the arches to.

Boot is quite easy to do with patience anx ar hes you get the sparks burning you lovely sensation
