Strange crunch?

I noticed:
- when slowing down from speeds above 50 mph - without using the brakes - all gears change nice and smooth all the way to 1st

- when slowing down from speeds above 50 mph - using rather heavy braking - at some point, I believe it's the 2nd to 1st gear change - I hear some rather noisy crunch - I seems it is coming from the gearbox.

Could there be some problem with the gearbox?

Could be as it shouldn't do that.

Time for me to spam! i have a auto gear box available, if that helps relatively close to you

Is it a clunk or a crunch, if its a clunk i would check the front propshaft as mine was clunking from 2nd to 1st and the front uj on the prop was knackered

I'd say crunch rather then clunk.
I will check the propshaft an UJ's first

Thanks for the offer but if anything goes wrong with gearbox I will get one from Ashcroft Trans.

Fair play thats a good option , but if funds dont allow £50 for mine
