please can you help me. my discovery is cutting out for a few seconds when it rains. you can be driving ok then you hear a click red light flickers car cuts out for a few seconds thenit is back to normal.this only happens in the wet any ideas thanks kim

it sounds like the rain is getting into your electrics!

Sorry Kim! welcome to the madhouse.

have look - see if yu can see any signs of water - try spraying with wd40 or similar water repellent.

Is it that "spider" thing that sits behind the dash? Something to do with the immobiliser, known fault and there is an aftermarket replacement. My mate's V8 does it all the time apparently, however I don't know if it is worse in teh wet...

thanks for your help guys any idea what the spider is behind the dash. do you mean the loom?i was wrong it is not a red light that comes on its amber and as i dont have a hand book i dont know what the light is.

The spider is essentialy a relay, 4 wires in each side, hence spider. If this goes wrong you can wire other wires into the working ones. So say 3 outputs work, put the forth onto one of the working ones. This is how we cured the intermittent non start issue on our 300tdi, the wire that was not being properly switched was the one for the starter... Problem solved.

It is not likly that rain would cause the spider to cause this, although its a landrover, water could be getting in anywhere I guess.

thanks all for your help but i,ve had another prob. she is now over fueling on cold start and is cutting out.when you take injectors out and turn her over she will then run until the fuel in engine has been used.when injectors are put back she then runs ok
