Well my trusty 300tdi disco finally let me down. I noticed it was down on power a bit but then she started to hold back and when the engine was not on demand and idle at traffic she cut out. I managed to nurse her home and been over the sediment filter and blown all the fuel lines clear but she still cuts out when left idleing. Any help would be great as she is my daily driver, cheers.

Air might be getting in. Pig to find the source of problem. Does 300 TDI have primer head on top of fuel filter?

There is a priming lever on lift pump. Disconnected all fuel line to and from filter, pump and injectors and seems ok. Im hoping its not injector but if you keep the revs high it keeps running. As soon as you luft your foot the revs drop and she struggles then dies.

have a look at the feed pipe coming out of sender unit ,theres a access plate in the boot floor, if lift pumps ok

Lift pump. It's always the lift pump. Sodding lift pumps. I hate lift pumps. Bane of my life is lift ****ingpumps.:mad::mad:

I did break the pipe from the lift pump and was getting diesel. Iv bought one along with a filter just incase. Really hope its not injectors looking at the price of them.

I had this on an old Disco I had and it turned out my fuel solinoide had a bad connection. Clipped the old spade off cleaned the pin, New spade terminal and all good

Well its not the lift pump! went back over the system and broke the mounting bracket when checking the sedimenter again but it was handy as i noticed it was nit full of diesel so i think its leaking which was clear after blowing air through the lines. Going to try and bypass it. Can anyone tell me the thread fitting to run get connectort to run some new 8mm pipe from tank to lift pump?

Just order 1m of 835mm internal diameter and jubliee clip it on to both ends where you have removed the sedimentor. I've just done it to mine

is it EDC ? sounds like what was happening to mine at the end, dump the electric pump and replace with manual, Sorted :)
I tried everything before that.

If not EDC sorry aint got a clue :)

that was my plan but looks like it the sender unit too the fittings are rotten and its drawing in air. Any idea what teh fitting size are for sender unit and lift pump? im just going to get a new sender and fun new fuel lines but need fittings

pretty sure the lift pump tails are 8mm (ie 8mm OD, so use 8mm ID olives)

i said on another thread recently, so appologies if youve read that, but, when i re-plumbed the 101 (international 2.8) i used clear nylon (like the disco has, just clear) so i could see any air leaks.

i bought the nylon locally from a hydraulics, but its all over ebay. if using nylon, you need brass inserts to go on any compression joints.
