hello, i`m new to landrovers and this site.

i have owned my disco for about a month and i loved it straight away,

it`s developed a problem, it would start and run fine for most of the day and then if i parked up and went back to the car shortly after it would not start it would just turn over and did`nt want to know, i would have to leave it for a few more minutes then it would start.

then the other day driving up the duel carriage way it just lost power at 65mph and would`nt start again, if i use it to run about in this happens a few times a day and i`ve been left stranded in some busy places.

ive done a bit of searching on here and it looks like it could be the ignition switch that is faulty.

has anyone had this problem or before or confirm i`m right in thinking it could be the ignition switch.

thanks Liam.

Hello yourself! Could be the ignition switch. What sort of Disco do you have? Could be as simple as a loose battery terminal though. Worth checking if you haven't.

what year/engine is yer disco?

It sounds suspiciously like an alarm spider fault

I dont think it has to do with the ignition switch as long as it cranks...unless u meant inertia switch. If it's a D2 i might have some ideas.

cheers for the replies,

my disco is a n reg (96) model,

my battery terminals are nice and tight, the only thing i lose is power everything else works fine still.

i will give my fuses a check today,

my alarm seems fine but i have my suspicions that it might have something to do with it.

Nearly there...you mention loosing power, but would probably help if you specified what type of power your disco has:doh:
The more info detail you put up here, the more likely the help you get will be relevant;)

no problem, its a 300 tdi, thanks for the advice and yes i feel like slapping myself now for not mentioning what engine i had.

I had this on my Tdi and it was the wire onto the injector pump solenoid - I had it cut out in the middle of overtaking someone! Recrimped the spade clip and problem went away.

thanks very much for the heads up, my problem is now sorted.

it was the spider alarm unit that was causing it to cut out so i bypassed it following that guide and it has been fine ever since so thanks very much..

Liam.
