I think perhaps the hope of hooking you up with Aaron was to show you that it will be a crazy expensive thing to do, and it'll weight an absolute tonne, and you'll probably hate it at the end. The cost and weight issues will be the same across the range.

They are indeed - I remember the 1st time I saw that youtube clip of the blue pickup with one in.... what a noise!!! great machine... but not for the average person.
I've become quite obsessed with the idea of the BMW/LR TD6 engine from L322 range rovers - I think they'd be great in defenders and discos, but I've slowly come to the conclusion that L322's are coming down in price enough to just buy one of those when they hit their "bottom". Much cheaper than the conversion, and you get a free range rover
Guy on youtube has the 4 pot in a disco, it seems like any modded land rover, a non stop fix/modify/fix/modify affair, pretty much as said above ref Aarons defender cummins.

He is american so takes an age to get to any point, so best to ffwd where possible.
If you also search cummins land rover on youtube there are a few videos, you will notice one thing about all the vids, they drive them quiet carefully ie no pedal to the metal/thrash the arse off of them, mainly I think because when you do they break the car, the engines themselves are great.
The 6 pot will easily shift an emtpy 7.5 ton (4 ton ish) truck up to an above 70mph with ease and bang on to the rev limiter.
