I know this has been done loads of times but after many searches haven't found the exact answer I'm after, which is a fix (preferably easy) for a non-functioning cruise control.

I press the motorway button, press the steering wheel 'set' button, can hear a quiet 'click' of a relay but no cruise control.

I have had a look under the bonnet and found a split vacuum hose on the vacuum thingy that manages c/c, so cut off the split end and re-fitted but still no worky. I can't see where the other end of the vacuum hose goes so no idea if that is split also - it seems to go across the bulkhead but I loose sight of it somewhere behind the radiator header tank.

Can some kind soul point me towards the next steps to take?
 
There is a pipe that goes through the bulkhead to a valve and switch on the brake pedal, they commonly split where it goes through the bulkhead....pipe can be found going through the bulkhead around the brake fluid reservoir IIRC.

That being said, get hold of RAVE and follow the Cruise Control troubleshooting guide in that too!!
 
I can see the link to the EAS pdf on rave.stringsandints.com but nothing that appears relevant to anything else - sorry for being thick but do you have a link to what I need?
 
No, on this forum, sub forum Range Rover you will find a How to section. click on and scroll to wammers eas section, click on and scroll to find Rave download. Or do a search on here, think Saint put a link.
 
Well (leaving aside the RAVE thing for now) I took the footwell panels off for a poke around this evening. Is the plunger thing on the brake pedal brake-light only or connected with c/c? It didn't seem to be operated by the plate on the pedal arm, so I bent the plate up a bit to make sure it contacted the plunger (in case it was stopping c/c from engaging). Brake lights still work fine but after having put it all back together again I no longer even get a relay click from c/c. Which is annoying.

I did come across a stray connector on the end of a pair of brown & blue wires which isn't connected to anything - should this be plugged in to anything or is it just there for fun?

Connector is probably for diesel CC. Not a good idea to bent the plate.

It is for clutch switch on manuals. Bending plates is not recommended. Should be two switches on the petrol, brake switch and vac vent switch.
 
I couldn't see the vac switch but I didn't try inserting myself upside-down in to the footwell. I'll possibly throw a bit more money towards it when it goes in for tickover works (another thread).
