Hello all just been on a road trip down to Paris and the old girl worked a treat however she has developed a fault with the cruise control and its a strange one so here goes, it was working fine then after a couple of days it started to cut out and then after 5 mins or so it would work again but only for short bursts I've taken ecu and inverter out and give them a little clean which made a smal difference but its still doing the same thing so if anyone has any ideas they would be very much appreciated.

Check the Vacuum pump, the pipework and the Throttle Diaphram...

Check the fuse for security that controls the pump and if it is also relay powered check that too....

Just realised...Petrol or Diesel as they both work differently!

Forgot to put that but it's a petrol and the vacuum seems fine, there's an audible click like you've switched it off then after a bit it'll work again ?

under the bellows there is also a solenoid. it could be that thats causing problems.

or a very slight leak in the pipe.

Saint probably has it! bet it's the vacuum pipes that go into the Throttle Diaphragm (Vacuum Control Unit). If you look at that (its just behind the EAS Unit) you will see a rubber pipe that runs from the back of the engine to a T-piece bet those pipes are split, just cut off a bit and push them back on. Problem solved????

The noise seems to come from the ecu and inverter area it's exactly the same noise you here if you pressed resume

I'll have a look at that and get back to you on my findings, poss gonna be a few days thou as I'm currently away from the homestead :)

There should be nothing that makes a noise on the CC system other than a Relay for the Vacuum pump....the rest of it is under bonnet and should be inaudible in the cabin.....seek out the CC Vacuum Relay

Don't want to sound thick or anything but where would that be, and the noise isn't a bad noise just an activation or deactivation noise but I'll have a look for vacuum relay
