Hi , I've a 4.6 HSE 1998

The cruise control only seems to start working after I have been driving a while.. 45 mins onwards.. as if the heat affects the tubing causing the cruise to work ?

A similar thing happened to me.

It turned out to be a split/perished hose that went to the black vacuum bit that pulls the throttle cable when you engage cruise control (sorry for no technical names lol!)

I was lucky with mine as the perished bit of the hose was right next to the 'T' piece in the hose, so it was just a case of cutting the perished end off and connecting It back together!

It may be that you've got a split/hole somewhere in the hose and it's taking a while to build up enough vacumm required to work he cruise control properly.... Giving you the feeling it 'only works when the engine is hot'.
Check all the black pipes and connectors for any perished or split rubber causing a leak.

Worth a try mate

Check leaks on pipe by blowing down tube Should not leak untill brake pedal is pressed follow test procedure in rave as mine did similar and needed a cruise ecu which was under steering wheel panel rhs!

Hi all,
The cruise does work , but not from cold ... I did replace some of the pipes a while ago , it did start to work , but again not from cold ..... I don't think its the switch under the steering...
I will have to have a mooch at the other tubing . To see if it perished .
