Hi there.. anyone have any information on this event?? I dont read and or apreak french, hence was looking at their website like a 2 month old watching TV..

If its not too late, would like to participate..

Thanks..

did it 2007- very good event- going back 2009.

too late to book now though.

Hi....was thinking to go in 2008 but could secure leave fro work.....so am planning of going in 2009.....keep in touch....maybe we could go in a group....

BTW, in 2007, did you join up in any group before the event or went there as by yourself?

kingson

we booked everything ourselves- the groups seem to be very expensive for not much gain as far as i can tell. (may be wrong :) )

we are planning to take 2 90's a couple of discos and a rangie.
more than welcome to come with us- if you need any help on what and when to book just let me know.
I have hotel details and other bits and bobs wich we found useful last year.

It truly is the most amazing experience that i have ever seen- let alone in a landy!!

the best thing to do is try and get yourself some really decent snowchains- they take lots of abuse so they need to be strong - and get used to fitting them as it is much easier when it isn't -10' !!

Hi Chris. Thanks for the info. When would you think bookings should be made? It will be lovely to tag along your group as I speak no french..Will be bringing a V8 rangie if nothing changes...

Yep....my classic is running on lpg, tho the tank is a tad too small...with only 150 mile range at 55litres (actual size 70 litres)...

June/July sounds alright...should be able to have all the work committments all planned out....

600 miles you say.....damn..that will be about 300 miles from Leeds to Dover, then to Calais....a total of 2000 miles in total......have to start putting funds aside just for the fuel.....hahaha...

I have finished the 90 at last. I and a few others are going to do the 2009 Croisiere blanche and am going to start prepping my truck for it.

I finally got my VIC done and am just waiting for the V5 to turn up.

Some photos for you.

bit of a difference from

If anyone fancies tagging along in 09 let me know- you need to book it in july/august 08 to be able to do it.

What engine you got in there V8 or 200TDi?

Was looking at the tree sliders for the rear tub the other day and thought about the Croisiere meself (strange how looking at things makes you go off on obscure thoughts). Would like to take a stab at it one day...

Hi Grumbleweed,
Having found by chance a brilliant video of the Croisiere on you tube, I was bitten !! Am now looking to do in 2009 - any help, advice, ideas on prepping (minimum kit req'd to pass scrutineering etc) would all be VERY welcome. Maybe we can get a real big 'British squad' together and show the French how to 'off road' - maybe not !!
Hope to here from you, Steve.
p.s. I have a 04 Disco 2 TD5, which is slowly gaining prep goodies

You need-

decent snow chains
basic tools and spares- though yours isn't old so i wouldn't bother!
survival blanket
sat nav- very useful!- tom tom recommended!
warm boots- clothing is up to you really- good windproof jacket is needed though.

as for booking- i will be putting together a list of places to book and when to do it over the next couple of days.

I would love to take a british contingent over there to show them how it is done. I am trying to get landrover to give us some stickres or some gizzets for the trip. We need to book early - june/july 08! spaces go quite quick!!

i have lots of pics which i will put up on here later to entice others to join- i would love to take a full compliment of landies- rangies and other british built pig-iron to clobber the french with!!

if anyone is interested in coming along email me at chrismartinuk@hotmail.com and i will send you some details.

I was thinking of this event also, i was going to take a trailer in case the worst happens, but it might be worth putting someones elses on the trailer and sharing fuel costs, that way we have a trailer for anyone one else too.

Love the sharing cost part, besides, having a trailer in case of emergency is an excellent idea.

Will stay in touch nearer to april/may when final decisions are to be made prior to making all necessary bookings.

Looks good, i might have to join in.

The more the merrier :) I'm hoping to get a small group organised My Disco, a Nissan Navara and a Defender 90 !! (so 6 of us  )

It's a way off yet, but the general plan will be to travel down in convoy via the Chunnel (avoids crap sea etc) arriving on the Monday, (assuming the Rally starts on the Tue as in previous years) and heading home on the Fri/Sat - ? :)

I'm advised registration and deposit will be around June/early July, the deposit (last year) was 150 Eur (I think that's each person, but not sure on that one ? )

So . . it's prepping the Disco in the mean time . . . . and saving the £'s

(just come back from Paris yesterday, and Diesel was Eur 1.21 (supermarket) Eur 1.35 (Motorway) so the price benifit has gone now - :(

Steve.

it should be good- be nice to see more brits there!!

we now have confirmed- 2 90's, 2 disco's and a rangie. You dont need to prep your truck much really- just make sure it is serviced before you go and you have a decent heater!!!!!

taking a trailer isn't really necessary- it isnt that bad! ha ha

be better to spend the money on gathering spares like half shafts, spare injectors, alternator, and a good battery. there was a guy who trailed a truck there last year and he nearly cooked the towcar up the mountains! not worth to then have to tow the towcar!!!

Ok, thanks, The heater is ok (ish) might change the thermostat for a winter one.
I was only thinking I had to prep only because all the cars in the pics have winches, 100's of lights, and other off road type goodies.
I was going to fit some extra lights anyway, and maybe a steering guard and front diff guard, or will that be a waste of beer vouchers ?
Would be good if we can all convoy there, well at least the last bit to pour into town waving a few UJ's etc would be really cool :D
