At least he indicated!
I have always wondered about getting a dashcam but wasn't impressed with the picture quality of the ones I have seen but I like these

The latest ones have an even better sensor. They now come with WiFi and support up to 64gb cards. Mine only supports 32gb.

They aren't cheap at £200-£250 depending on model, but they are small and unobtrusive.

If you get dash cams installed in your car, do you then have to drive around Russia witnessing wierd and dangerous driving and post the videos on You Tube?

and your sales commission is how much:scratching_chin:

He's sponsored the forum but more importantly I bought one and I'm very impressed. I've not seen anything in that price range with the quality and width of shot.

I'm happy to recommend them anytime

hi

i think its about time i invested in one

may i ask a daft question, does the video just loop round recording or do u have to put another sd card in when its full so u can delete one when the recordings are not required

sorry asking dim questions , plus does having one fitted cause any thieves etc to break in and nick them or do u just put them out of the way at night time

plus ive got an ipad are u able to load them onto the ipad if required or is the software not compatible

i believe also ins companies offer discounts

i assume the higher the pixels the better picture and to get a 1080 p hd one

see there are ones that have forward and rear cameras that clip on ur rear view mirror

thks

My Blackvue cameras stay where they are all the time. Never take them out.

On my DR400HD it holds about 15 hours of full HD 1920x1080p at 30f/s. When it is full it just overwrites the oldest video.

The latest ones use WiFi and can be read by iPad and iPhone as well as Android.

On my e-bay cheapie it records in 3 minute clips - when the card is full is starts to overwrite the oldest ones. There is a button on the camera so if you have just had an incident and want to keep the records - you press it and it marks that 3 min clip as never to be deleted.

Here's one I made earlier....

Just imagine, if he had driven straight off, I'd have had him bang to rights.

I use a Garmin cam linked to my satnav in my car and a Drift Innovation Ghost S on my bike helmet. Fantastic.

How did you manage that? I sent them a message via this site, got a reply that someone would contact me, never heard a thing.

(sorry for another wander off topic...)

I have a G1W, which are about £30 off ebay - watch out for Chinese fakes though.
It records in full HD and is apparently about the best budget camera you can get.

Thats not a great example as I have to reduce the quality from 1080HD down to 480p to upload to Youtube as my connection is so slow.

For Thirty sheets, I reckon its lunacy to NOT have one....it could easily be the difference between being blamed or not for something beyond your fault.
I ended up buying three and putting one in each car.

Not a snowballs chance. Told them about my cam at my last renewal. Has meet with "Road Hawk dash cam, what's that?" and after a few minutes of silence while she went to check was told that it made no difference to my premium. So now I've caught a potential fraud on my camera, the response is ????????????? We'll get back to you. So far nothing. Was told by police all insurance companies have their own fraud investigating team who share the details of any potential fraud with each other. Yeah, right. At least it seems Adran Flux isn't too bothered about insurance fraud.

You probably wouldn't want them to discount your premium anyway because they would make it conditional that the camera was working at all times - a bit like claiming the discount on house insurance for an alarm system - they're not lowering your cost they are lowering the things they will pay out for...

good point about the ins and like u say if they dropped the price would be conditional on it working and suppose a way out of them paying out

Yes, as gstuart says, this is a very good point. It's not "hard wired" to my Freelander and can be moved between vehicles. So if I decided to use the Polo (don't ask), I'd have to remove it from the Freelander and vice-versa. That would be a real balls ache if I had to keep removing it just for odd or short journey.

It's wired directly into a special port on my Garmin 2585TV.

T.O.D, Lat/Lon, speed etc are all recorded and if played back using Garmin s/w, it plots the route etc on a map.

Remember Adrian Flux is a broker, not an underwriting company. They have fraud departments. I know!! I Work for them. They do share info.
