Hi All
Yesterday i have changed the oil seal on the front of the crankshaft as i had a slight leak coming from there. Before refitting the pulley i cleaned it a bit and recognised that there is a ball bearing in the midle (i did not know that before. I have thought that only the rubber housing makes it a bit flexible). Seems that this bearing is complately seized as i can not move the inner ring at all. No any side play, but also no rotation.
Do i miss something or it is scrap and i have to buy a new one?
Thanks

I also had a look on the other components now and found the ACE pump has about 1mm axial movement. Is it acceptable or also scrap soon:(

Thanks, at least one good news
I "only" need now a new pulley (I think will order one from Turner Engineering) and after it is done continue the fight with the rear diff and remove the famous centralizing sh....t to get access to the seal.

Does anyone have any idea how to check the function of the dumper pulley bearing? As it should not turn only compensates the move of the rubber?
Bolted to the crankshaft it did not have any play.
Is there any way to check as it is removed now?

It’s best to replace it I would say, they can be ok but not perfect for a while so it’s not worth the risk, put a Aap one on mine in 2015 and it’s still good now

AAP means AAPOLDHAM a reputable aftermarket parts supplier in UK, it's not manufacturer so the parts can be chinese as well, i bought AAP hub once and lasted 5 months... a lottery like any other aftermarket, you can be lucky or not, i know that genuine LR is frigging expensive so i'd buy something which is clear where is manufactured like Mapco or SKV

Do yo know something about Turner Engineering? As far as i have heard they are supplying good parts

I've heard that too but i dont trust a supplier who doesnt name clearely the manufacturer of a part... "quality aftermarket" or ''OEM quality" means nothing to me, i've had too many bad experiences with these things

Yesterday i had a quick look to see what is available on the market and only found similar parts (oem, aftermarket, bearmach).

I fitted a Turner Engineering pulley to a D90 about 6 months ago. It seemed to be good quality. It has certainly not caused any issues so far.

I wanted to change the crank seal only and when i deeply check the pulley found the bearing not moving at all. I know that the pulley should not rotata, but when i removed the dust cup of the ball bearing i could not even move the balls itself. So i have decided better to replace ( also sometimes when i stopped the engine it made noise like belt slip)

Ah... I have the same. I replaced the serpentine belt, and rollers, but I still get a squeal for a second on start up or switch off. There's also a rumble at 2k plus, which it 100% engine related... So, I may replace the pulley and seal, at the same time as the viscous fan bearing to see if that cures it...

So Mapco pulley has arrived and installed. Car runs smooth, no vibration up to about 5000rpm.
Start and stop is without squeal.
