Ok, got waylaid with other stuff......tried again.

Found reason why tool wasn't gripping properly, it wasn't inserted deep enough.
Length of tubular section on tool too long...!

I had tried it on the replacement pulley and it fitted fine, but on the existing one it didn't because there is a thick washer there !

Cut 8mm off tubular section on tool and now fits perfectly

Unfortunately bolt is bloody tight, even with 3/4 breaker bar and 4ft extension tube.

Worried about breaking something....probably me.

Will find blowtorch and try warming it up a bit....I'll be back

Tried heating up with with small blowtorch to no avail.

Can actually jack the front end of the car up using the breaker bar without loosening the nut.

Tool is starting to bend and worried about nut shearing....yeah I know its big but tremendous force being put on it.

Will get a bigger blowtorch next week and see if I can heat it up some more to try and break whatever bond is there......not hopeful.

I am going to try heating it up again with a better torch until its glowing.

Couldn't undo it using trolley jack to lift breaker bar.....don't think longer breaker bar by hand would give as much leverage.

OK finally got the bolt out.....what a B......

Managed to brace the tool using a combination of spanners and bits of metal ( the handle on the tool was bending ).

2 of us on the scaffold bar....almighty crack sound which I thought was the socket breaking....but no the bolt was loose.

Obviously the new bolt is 10mm shorter than the old one........

Finally got pulley & belts back on.....its a cheapo pulley....yes I know, probably be back on here next week saying it fell off again....:p
