hi having problems with Discovery sport,Ran out of diesel put 2 cans of diesel back in but would not crank over had to get a new battery still won’t kick in ,then key wont work now so having to put key under steering column to at least get juice to the dash .
so just charging battery up now to full capacity should it at least be enough diesel in the tank for the pump to get it through?any special ways of trying to get it going, because key not recognised is this knocking me out even though it’s cranking, immobilising kicking in ?
thx Allan

I'm not sure what your engine is like but when I ran out of diesel fuel in a 1 ton chevy I had to continuously push a button type pump on top of the fuel filter to prime the system before it would start . You might try a little shot of ether down the air intake and get the pump going enough to draw up some fuel. I think it's probably an air lock by the sounds of it. Just a thought as I'm not a mechanic just a Land Rover enthusiast .Try asking the Chat GTP AI the same question. It usually comes up with a few suggestions. Welcome to the future, go ask a robot who's infinitely smarter than we are. LOL

Did you run out of Diesel? was the engine running and it spluttered to a stop or did you go to start it and it did not start and because it was low on fuel you thought you had run out, it may have been the key ? always good to look at all options

Hi just did not start,
checked adblue fine diesel is in,but key says not recognised and have to put key under steering column to crank engine but does not fire up .Just thinking if the key has gone out of sync would that stop starting even though it’s cranks up on the steering column thx

You’ll need the same bleed procedure as a fuel filter change, involves getting a one way valve and hand primer in fuel circuit

Hi everyone disconnected fuel lines in and out started car etc diesel every where so in my world fuel pump is working but does anyone know what this is emobiliser ? Security of some description maybe knocking me out ? Just sits close to mirror
thx Allan
