The diesel needs mega torque on the crank bolt the crank pulley drives the oil pump by friction.stupid idea, why not a key way?Aren't they all pretty much the same? Crankshaft pulley off, hook the oil seal out and tap a new one in?

And ask @Doo

The front seal is slightly more involved than the rear since the rear can be forced out with a (in my case) gasket scraper...
The front seal, I drilled out using a 1.5mm drill bit, then screwing in a 2mm self tapping screw and pulling the seal out with a vice grip holding the screw and a rubber mallet to shock the seal off it's seat.
The face of the seal has a steel body behind the rubber which needs a drill bit to force a hole through before you can turn a self tapping screw into it.
The rubber somehow "glues" itself into the alloy and will not simply come off without some serious persuasion.
Once it's out and the new seal in, the engine will be happy once again
+1 saves accidental damage tooI would remove rad to give yourself space to work

so which way does the viscous fan nut move and the same for the crankcase pully are they anticlockwise because the engine rotates clockwise.
so is that clockwise or anticlockwise??.
Right-tighty; lefty-loosey. Diesel has reverse thread.
