hi there after many misfire problems it seams to be getting better(4.6 hse auto 1998) but wont go over 1500rpm if it does then it coughs and splutters and seams like its misfiring again,
changed or tested parts are as follows
plugs
leads
coil packs
wiring loom
crank sensor,cam sensor
maf sensor
and throttle body cleaned
diagnostic twice and problems repaired

after all this still no joy, reading posts on here checked the flywheel ring today and found one tooth bent and one tooth missing from on the inside ring the ring 6 teeth down from the rings space ,
can this be repaired by brazing in new tooth or is there a repair kit ,
could this be why it wont rev ,,
tried to add pic don't now if worked,,
anyway any info cheers all

Thats got to be good news - but I would be a little concerned how it got busted off in the first place:(

yep me to, the bent tooth was next to the broken one, i have read that trying to start the engine while it is running can cause the starter to hit the teeth but i dont now if this is true,, just glad it worked,,

Can't see how the bendix can get anywhere near those teeth. They are miles away from the ring gear.

The only thing I can think of is that someone has jammed a bar/screwdriver, whatever in there to lock the crank........
