I'm off to get my first landy, however on further reading the description of the item (eBay) a mechanic mate of mine told me to check a few things before i part with my hard earned.
The listing is for 1993 landrover defender 90 Tdi.
In the listing it says it has a disco 200 engine and gear box.. Fine as I know people can get conversions done etc. However in the details it says it's a discovery. It also mentions it's shortened. I wasn't 100% sure what this was till my friend pointed out that it could be a shortened disco chassis thus using a disco chassis number and plate. Just with a 90 shell. The item doesnt really explain this and for a newbie like myself can be confusing and misleading. I have not done a HPI yet.
If it is a 'hybrid' should I walk away?
My mechanic friend said it would be harder to get parts to fix it should I need to and poss difficult to insure. I thought I was buying just a 90 with a disco engine / box. Bit more difficult than I thought.
Cheers for the tips
