Twenty-five years ago I made my way around South America with nearly zero Spanish and even less Portuguese. I survived with "Dos cervezas por favor, mi amiga/o esta pagando..." and "La cuenta, por favor..."
I had a great time, ate and drank well...and met some tremendous people
