There are quite afew with full swimming capability , There is a festival at evesham that will have various amphibs inc several swimming Stollys being planned

Didn't think you could get the swim-kits for those but there you go...
You don't need swim kit to go in the drink as the wheel rotation propels them along,It's just steering the feckers that's a problem.
I lost count of the amount of stollys i removed the swim kit from but i believe you can still get hold of them.
I would love to own one but the first job would have to be converting it to diesel.

One of my mates had one with a doosil conversion with the swim kit. He never dared to take it swimming though :D

I don't see why, even if it leaks a bit as long as the bilge pumps working it takes a lot to sink them.
I remember back in the 80's some squaddy nicking one and getting half way across the channel with it.Can't remember whether he ran out of fuel or got caught but it certainly didn't sink.

I read an article where some guy took one across The Channel and back. Don't know if he made it, but found this on ARRSE:
The following account of the event occured in an account of a Court Martial appearing in The Times of 24th November 1965.
Anyone with access to The Times archives will easily verify this.

He entered the water from Belgium but had to land near Calais, where he was detained.
A District Court Martial was told that Trooper Robin Wilfred Painter, 20 of the 11th Hussars, had planned to England after a 400-mile drive from his barracks at Hohne.
He then planned to cross the Irish Sea from Liverpool to Ireland where he had planned to ditch the stolen vehicle.

In a statement he was alleged to have made to the military police Painter said he took the vehicle on September 22 and set off to drive to Belgium. At the time he was under open arrest after a similar escapade in August when he drove a car to a Belgium base, where he surrendered after being absent for 24 days. Sentence is subject to confirmation
