Hi i do know from landrover new injectors are approx £408 each this is for the green top the blue top is a bit more expensive, blue top is pre1a chassis,a new ecm is about £500 can i ask why

My Disco developed a misfire about 4-5 weeks ago we took it to Total 4x4, they put the electronic box on and it showed low fuel line pressure so they changed the pump. The Misfire returned and we took it to an Independent land rover repair shop they checked it out and it didn’t show any thing. We went out on Sunday and it ran fine for about 7 miles we parked up went in to a shop came out started the engine and it felt like it was running on 4 cylinders. Its going back to the land rover dealers on Wednesday but we have been informed it could be the injectors that are faulty.

It’s very strange it runs fine for 10 –15 miles then just starts missing other times it runs rough as soon as it is started.

Can you change single injectors on the TD5

Well lucky them even landrover cant measure fuel presure on there machines, the red connetor on the thunder ecm holds all the wires for the injetors they are orange in color with slight different color codes on them like yellow/blue and so on of course there are only 5 orange 1 4 each injector, you can check none have breaks in,also try this turn ignition on to 2nd position lights on, straight away pump throttle 5 times fast the engine managment light should flash this is a bleed procedure you should hear a whine from the fuel filter area, offside rear wheel, try and drive again after bleeding system, also the lashing for the injectors could be out, bit to long to explain at this time,i asked what year it was as i have a brand new green top injector sat in my shed going begging obviously for a price

Yes you can change single injectors on the td5,also if its plugged in the ecm will store the fault codes and it will let you know if an ijector is going down they dont normally have intermitant faults, the ecm does thou but normally resets each time engine turned off

Sounds a bit like the injector wiring harness playing up!

Yes, is this not classic injector harness oil contamination symptoms? Less than 40 quid off ebay and simple to install.

If you search for this problem there are many posts about it.

Cheers

A friend of mine wit ha td5 developed the same sort of problem.
It was found to be a faulty injector. He paid £300 per injector and ended up having a full set in the end !!!

Had same problem seems to only run on 4 cylinders sounded like the engine was about to give up ,was ok a couple of times for about 8 mile then back to problem, garage showed injector 5 problem on test terminal, said £300 each for injectors. He contacted a few of his mates in the trade and some had seen same problem before, replaced loom from injectors to ECU and it runs perfect. There looked nothing wrong with it so do not be decieved.Good honest garage i say.As he said, he or his freinds had not replaced an injector on a TD5 before and as they are order only they can not sell many, but the loom was "off the shelf" at £45 (plus gasket set £20) still a hell of a saving.

Can't comment on this problem, but Hilly raises a good general point, talk to your parts supplier. I used to work for an indy, and every now and then some one would order a part ignoring our advise that we've never sold one of those, but we sell one of these every week, then they'd get all shurty because we wouldn't take back the part we'd had great trouble getting for them, and stood no chance of selling to anyone else.

Welcome to landyzone hilly59.:welcome2:

This thread is over a year old so I would expect him to have sorted the problem by now. Thanks for your input on it though.:)
