I have a nut leftover

Hi all,

Can anyone give me a very rough idea of how much to expect a quote to be for replacing a damaged colour coded front bumper on a 51 plate dark red disco 2? The one with the big oblong fog lights down low.

Cheers.
Stu.

I had just recently repainted the front bumper on my 2000 Disco nd that same evening after fitting it the missus wanted to do some xmas shopping at the retail park. Whilst waiting for a brand new corsa to leave a parking space so I could get in the female in the corsa backed into my freshly painted bumper causing it to crack in various places and also taking out the passenger side headlamp washer. She had only passed her test a couple of days earlier and had borrowed her boyfriends Corsa. How she never seen me I do not know and she offered to pay for a new bumper. I am assuming now she probably was not insured to drive the car as well as she offered to write a cheque out straight away for a new bumper. I settled for £300 and cashed the cheque the next day. The damaged to the Corsa drivers side rear quarter panel was pretty well dented so she will have some explaining to tell her boyfriend. She even did not take any details as I now think she would be in a hurry to get the car back before her boyfriend noticed the car missing. In the end I managed to get a brand new bumper primed finished for £125 from a dodgy source and do not ask where it came from maybe Sollihill out the back door as it was still boxed and still had the masking tape on it for the final painting as all this was aranged through a friend of a friend who knows somebody who can supply genuin Land Rover parts. It is now on my Disco as of yesterday.

From a Land Rover dealer expect to pay about £300 plus for primed bumper with foglight cutouts.
Black Bumper £230.
Chap on Ebay selling a primed bumper for £220 plus £25 p&p
Paint from paint supplier go for 2 x 300ml base coat aerosol, 1 x 900ml red primer, and if metalic paint you will nedd 2 x 900ml top coat aerosol cost about £30.
