Update : I fitted new water pump today (genuine Land Rover part) and a surprisingly easy job to do including removal of viscous fan without the special tools. I used a adjustable wrench and hammer . I have not had the courage to drive it yet so do not know if any damage has been done by the method of recovery but plan to pluck up enough courage to test this weekend
