Dunno yet, he's still not looked at it (bloody garage!) - although he said "some" welding on the chassis - i guess that ranges from £20 to £600! I don't think there would have been too much else (maybe the prop shafts but i supplied a new front one which arrived half an hour before i had to take it in so couldn't fit it, and i know the spider was a bit worn) - will ring him in a mo and as soon as his welder's assessed it i'll let you know!
 
'Bout £200 so not the end of the world! It's been bodged before and those bodges are failing so apparently he has to weld a bit about a metre long in, says it'll take him a day and a half.

yer kin buy a half decent mig welder for £150, then ave a go yersen?
 
I did think that, then i remembered my last attempt at welding in 'O' level DT in 1987 and thought if i was going to tackle the chassis probably 3 days practice might be pushing it - i'd end up with a twisted(er) heap!

I would love to be able to weld properly and might put learning on me to do list for when i gets me house wiv a big garrij (pending!) but all the freds on ere say (i dun a search!!!) if a complete novice tries it out he will make a right pigs ear and i'm heeding the higher knowledge!!

Hopefully a coupla hundred quid (there was apparently not much else wrong) will sort it out then i can properly wax it and concentrate on the other bits n pieces.
 
OD Buy a welder get one that starts at about 40amps and goes upto about 120amps get a load of scrap steel from a skip (ask 1st of course) and practise, practise, practise. You'll soon get the hang of it. It's not as hard as it looks. also check out the welding forum in my siggy.
