Hi all
just had my core plugs done on my 300 tdi, today drove it to work and tried the heating to see if it got warm. The heating started to get hot but then got cold, when I got to work checked the water level bottle empty so topped it up then noticed water on the floor checked core plugs and found one missing. Do you think that they never put them in correctly or there is another problem? Garage thinks that it's over pressuring. Do I get another core plug and try again or let the garage have a good look as I'm not sure what I'm looking for.
Thanx mickie

not in properly, they should be in slightly below surface and fitted dry or loctited not non setting sealant

I bought some cheap ones years ago for a 200 (no prizes for guessing the supplier)......went in worryingly easy and even with loctite weeped.

On closer inspection of the unfitted ones there was no taper on the flange

Did one on a York transit engine. put the bugger in the freezer over night then bead of locktitey type stuff. on the block and a gentle tap with a socket that just fit inside the core plug and it were right as rain.
