Hi All,

I have to replace a couple of core plugs in a TD5 engine,

Thing is, the last time I fitted core plugs was in a Chevette, in about 1986!

I cant remember what sealant to use, either red hermetite, green hermetite, or blue hylomar.

Can someone refresh my memory please

Thanks

Gordy

Don't use Hermetite, and Hylomar is for sealing machined faces.

RAVE doesn't mention it at all, but if it were me I'd use RTV sealant.

Vauxhall used a thin brown sealant that came in tubes or tins, can't remember the name of the stuff but I did a few core plugs over the years on them and Bedfords.

Used to use this after wire brushing the hole in the block .Gasket Sealants

core plugs need sealing with a hard setting sealer like loctite and fit just below flush with block face
