like a pratt, i didnt check antifreeze before the cold weather, i have now got a popped core plug on me 1994 v8 auto. i know now that im gonna get loads of flack, but any response would be taken on the chin and very much appreciate. question is, as a novice do i attempt it myself and if so how. im told the box and torx converter has to come off is this the case.

Mmmmm that'll teach ya! Core plugs are tricky to reach with the engine in place. A couple of plugs can be changed in-situ but it is tricky. If the plugs right next to the engine mounts have gone you've got no chance, same if it's the ones at the back of the block. Sorry chap but engine out is probably the way to go.
 
make sure you get the tourque convertor back on properly or you will crack the pump!
 
undo the torque convertor bolts and push it against the auto box and you can leave it alone with no problems.
if one plug has gone and you have run on plain water replace all the plugs as they will fail one after another also check the head gaskets too they blow easy too
 
thanx for that, i decided to let my local garage tackle the job its way beyond my capabilities, upon closer inspection it was not the core plugs after all but both cylinder heads, she is being stripped now and fingers crossed for just gasgets,
still a bloody expensive bottle of antifreeze tho :doh:
