Yes that pipe was through the EGR cooler initially and now being connected together goes directly to the oil cooler, it's normal to be a SLIGHT return flow on that pipe but i've never seen such thing as the level in the tank to not be even in the two chambers of the tank due to high pressure there... on some modells that circuit is completely missing as that port of the oil cooler is blanked, that's why they sell these https://twinwoods4x4.co.uk/product/td5-oil-cooler-blanking-plug/ and the tank has no hole there... maybe you should do that but the coolant circuit in the oil cooler might be clogged one side so the pressure goes mainly in that port which is not OKSo the pipe on the bottom back of the header that's pumping up is connected via a rubber hose to the solid metal pipe under the inlet which I belive comes from the oil cooler?
Easiest to replace the tank with an EU2 one https://twinwoods4x4.co.uk/product/expansion-tank-d2-less-eu3/Welcome. I presume that you realised that you'll have to blank the tank too on that port then you can remove the whole pipe from there
Hello again. Sorry I've been working away and haven't had chance to look at this much further but I've just got back and had 15mins looking and checking some diagrams.Welcome. I presume that you realised that you'll have to blank the tank too on that port then you can remove the whole pipe from there
YES, the oil cooler works perfecly blanked there... to simplify, that port which can be blanked is useless once the EGR was bypassed...periodam I right in saying that the oil cooler gets it feed from an internal waterway in the engine and also has a separate return back into the engine
On an EU3 TD5 (and basically any EU2 TD5 that's had the radiator replaced) that connection on the radiator is blanked internally, so it's not going to do anything. As Fery said, just blank it at the oil cooler and the expansion tank (or fit an EU2 tank). My other thought and after looking at various diagrams is the egr cooler flow direction that leaves the oil cooler and goes through the egr then goes in to the bottom left of the rad second spigot up. I could connect the pipe into this instead of blanking and completing a circuit and aiding flow?
