Keith Gott might collect. Have you asked? otherwise trailering it or towing it is an option ( is it auto?). I can check it with my OBD reader, but not sure that would help.

just a thought... wot if the thermostat isnt opening? might be worth changing that - or going for the Remote thermostat, or even an EWP?

it is auto and Kieth might collect, have to call him next week to confirm space etc but hopefull for the end of the week. towing isn't an option for me. selling for spares or repairs might be, as by budget to fix this is only £800 after paying out for it in the first place. may have to cut my losses if HGF

This car needs bleeding up properly by someone who knows the problems the K series can suffer from. I mean no disrespect to anyone, everybody is trying to help but unless it is bled properly (there are a couple of bleed screws) and the cap checked etc etc you are going to struggle. You probably wont need any other checks. It could have split/blown off an insecure/perished pipe and been refilled with coolant, air lock and then giving symptoms of head gasket fail. If at all possible, find someone (decent mechanic) and just get it bled up and some basic items checked....could save a lot of money.

yup - still got to get it to Alton tho.

get KG to give it a vehicle inspection while it is there to let yu know what yu have let yoself in fir :).

Hi start engine and let it tick over slowly! Put water into header tank ( filling it up slowly while running to avoid air locks ) watering can is good ! Once it is full leave cap off for a few mins and let the engine warm up! KeeP an eye on temp gauge ,when the temp rises a bit put your heater on hot and see if it's blowing nice and warm!!! Put the cap on and let it run until fan comes on , keep checking for any signs of leaks etc !!! If it reaches normal temp and heater is warm then it's not the head gasket !! Also if the head gasket has failed there will be considerable pressure building up in the water system causing air bubbles to rise in the header tank !! If all is well then you may have a faulty cap or a faulty thermostat!! If the stat does not open at the correct temp then you may overheat the system and the cap will release this pressure!!!! Good luck

What about the two bleed points? That's how to get an air lock! I'd be trying it with the stat removed bleeding the system correctly and going from there. Faulty stats aren't uncommon on K series. Has it broken the impeller off? Has it got a blocked rad? I think it needs to go to someone with a clue and Keith Gott certainly have that!

Yeah but if yu is a mum who has just bought one....... You ask for help.

No I don't mean that! She needs constructive help like some are giving, others clearly aren't and can't! I think in this case being referred to a decent garage is the best course of action! Do this, do that, isn't really helping when everything is different some right some wrong and aimed at someone that probably doesn't know the difference! That's what I meant by trial and error! So getting it to Keith Gotts is probably the best way to go as following bad advise will no doubt be far mor expensive!;) hope that makes sense:D

fracture/split in the exspansion tank?
