i know what a fuel heater does......... if you'd have bothered to keep up with the rest of the thread charlesy has said about 3 times the td5 heats up the fuel to 70c after the cooler which i am saying is nearly enough heat to make it thin enough to run without any thinning agents, if you could determine the heat of it before the cooler it may be a good temp for running svo, a plastic petrol tank would be an issue but is easily worked around with a metal tank and insulation and would be recouped in less time spent making it into bio diesel or the extra cost of adding thinning agents

even reducing the the efficiency of the cooler so it cools it to a happy medium would be good........

also most fuel heaters only heat to about 70c which would be no more than it already is

i don't think you will be able to fit a metal fuel tank, they were type approved and fitting a non type approved fuel tank would void your insurance

the fuel cooler should be in the return so removing it over heat your fuel tank and wouldn't benefit you at start up when its needed

as SVO contains lots of fats and acids ...and fatty acids if you over heat it they will separate out leaving you with a thick white scum in your tank that will und up blocking your entire fuel system

this is the reason for the titration during production of bio-diesel to ascertain the amount of methanol/lye that you need to add to remove the fats and acids

and as for calm down... haha i'm not even dropping my smile

vegetable oil doesn't leave a thick white scum or every chip fryer in the world would have it sitting somewhere inside it, the reason for making it into bio diesel (titration) is to remove polymerizing agents which create a plastic type coating on cylinders etc and it's been found that by heating veg oil to certain temp or thinning it the effects of this are reduced dramatically as it changes the spray pattern and in turn gives you a better burn

thick white scum would only be caused by creating mayo or if you've got animal fats in it and since there shouldn't be any water or animal fats in the equation it shouldn't happen at all and if your opinion is true.... then it would block up the fuel system after the fuel heater unless by some magical way this doesnt happen with a fuel heater but does if it's hot in the tank?

in short unless you have vast amounts of air circulating your fuel system (which i would hope there isn't!) you wouldn't have to worry about it, and if you're worries are towards your fuel tank getting lined with the stuff you'll notice it only happens when there is carbon introduced into the mix so using svo (not wvo) there shouldn't be an issue with having hot oil in a fuel tank hence why there are enormous companies dedicated to converting ordinary cars into two tank systems with the svo tank normally being heated and nothing going wrong

as for insurance that is a pathetic point.... purely for the fact an insurance company wouldn't even notice a metal fuel tank nor would anyone for that matter, you'd have more stick from an insurance company for adding a bloody air filter!!

first off i think you'll find i pointed out i wasn't too familiar with the td5 engine, i'm not bored at all i have very little spare time in my life in fact

but i saw something that i didn't agree with and commented on it, from experience of my own, i don't think i even addressed you in any of my posts, and had a discussion about it with charlesy and you decided to pipe up with something of no importance just to take the ****, (which im pretty sure makes YOU bored : trawling for comments to add ****ty remarks to that bear no relevance to the topic for your own enjoyment.)

so how about do yourself a favour? and bring something other than sarcastic, pointless, irrelevant and exacerbating comments to the thread?

:doh: OMG WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if/when you crash the insurance company would look over the car with a fine tooth comb then see a metal tank go back to what was declared, it wasnt were not paying. do you rely think inurance companys would look over these details & just bend over & pay out cutting into there profit.They will use anything to get out of paying out. use ur sell EDIT = cell (for the none illiterate people or for who have three fingers) inbetween ur ears.

it's not bull**** it's ****ing fact you prick, and if i had time to read about some bloke making his car a death trap i'm sure somewhere there would be an easy hole to pick in why his car blew up or crashed or whatever but i'm talking about controlled cooling which is what land rover themselves have used in their fuel system and modifying it for something that doesnt even catch fire at 200 centigrade is not dangerous if you're heating it to a max of 90 centigrade

lol i've had two crashes (both not my fault) and got away with several things undeclared, you'd need a land rover expert of some sort to realise the fuel tank in'st the right material

and it's cell you retard
 
i've got the jist of it mate he changed his brakes to different sizes either side of the car..... hmmm wonder why he crashed what the **** has that got to do with heating vegetable oil to 90 degrees C?

grow up! all i said was the cooler goes in the return line and petrol will damage your injection system,

and to have controlled cooling you need control systems such as a thermostatic valve and monitoring systems.... where as i think you will be working on guesswork


and what is a '****in fact'??? i'll give you a 'fact' i tried to give you some advice.... trying to be helpful...you didn't like what i said and spat the dummy, would it be my problem if you crashed and they found undocumented safety critical modifications?? NO
