Good day everyone.... I have a discovery 2 with a td5.... However due to the vast number of issues with the transmission and engine I've located a 300tdi engine and transmission(no transfer box) how much needs to be done to do such a conversion.... Thanks in advance

What issues?

The TD5 is normally a reliable engine and much better than a 300

hi dan ive just completed a disco 2 shell onto a rangerover chassis with a 300 tdi engine in it all working now and on the road
some people dont like the 300 but my opinion is no problem now as you can fix a 300 but td5 engines are not bullet proof like the 300

danspann I sympathise, having just had to remove the warped exhaust manifold. I also have a 300tdi. Just as many miles but very few problems, also more economical, and with a few cheap tweaks, feels as if it runs as well as the TD5. Only rider to this, the TD5 drives an automatic, but people with manuals say they are greedy beggars. Considered doing exactly what you are doing, but the other problems on the td5 to do with chassis rust etc, put me off. So have now got a Disco 1 lpg manual, so the TD5 will be on the market very soon.
I expect you'll have massive ecu type problems, as TD5s have so many other "features" that 330 tdis never had.
Just my five pennorth!

Actually the only issue I've had thus far is getting the speedo to work... The driveshaft has been lengthened and shortened to suit and it drives.... Electrical is more or less sorted.

And how did you manage with the rev counter, the temperature gauge and the various warning lights?
