Hi, anybody got any threads or know where I can get some details on converting a pertol discovery to 200tdi? is it a straght swap if I have the engine with turbo, exhaust, fuel pump , intercooler and pipe workengine mounts etc. Is there any complex wiring ie do I need an ecu out of the diesel, if at all it has one? Will the bell housing and clutch mate to my gearbox?

Sell the petrol buy a diesel, lot easier.

its not difficult, but time consuming. you need all the bits. it aint simply a weekend job.
and always try to get the engine/gearbox as one unit. makes life so much easier.
as been said, so much easier to sell the petrol one and buy a tdi model.

like you should have done in the first place!

No dont think I made a mistake, just seeing if best to convert to diesel or LPG! Think I'll go the LPG route, currently getting 28 MPG on petrol, so that be an equivalent of approx 50 MPG on gas.

His v8 must be c--p then,my Tdi auto does 200mpg,350mph and 0-60 in 1.5 secs - all in low range.

Ow quick do yer need,350mph is too fast fer the speed cameras round ere,and I can get to work before I left - I'll put up with the poor fuel consumption.

oh at last a sensible reply on what I would need! For info its the 2l model so it does do 28mpg!
