If it really is grey then it can be fuel, it doesn't take much

Could be a partially blocked air filter

Burning a gallon of diesel or petrol produces amongst other things a considerable quantity of water which will exit the exhaust as a gas & in cold weather will condense to form the visible cloud. As the day warms up this will reduce to not being noticeable.

Is there a strong smell of diesel from your exhaust?
 
my series 3 smokes all the time, has done since I bought it c10 years ago, it doesn't bother me anymore
 
Need some more deets mate. Video of the smoke plus you'll need to be letting us know what engine it is. We're not mind readers.
