Well, I've been to see it......
HELLO THIS RANGE ROVER IS IN ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS CONDITION, HAVING HAD RANGE ROVER'S FOR MANY YEARS THIS ONE IS THE BEST BY FAR THAT I HAVE SEEN.
All I can say is that if that's the best Rangie he's seen, he either hasn't seen another one or does a roaring trade as a bull**** merchant. (I'll come back to that last bit later).
The rear bumper is bolted on straight through to the alloy panels, the boot floor is ropey, the inside bottom edge of the rear tailgate will be lucky to see out this winter, the front inner wings will resemble Emmental cheese in around the same length of time, the exhaust has been crushed in a few places and there's a huge lump of exhaust putty on the o/s downpipe, the LPG filler has disappeared somewhere behind the bumper, the o/s/r arch pulls away from the inner shell, the n/s/f tyre has some seriously odd wear to the outer edge (other 3 were fine with even wear and lots of tread) and the roof is painted matt black (although large sections of paint on the roof appear to be lifting and peeling).
THE ENGINE AND GEARBOX IS FIRST CLASS. IT HAS LPG FITTED. IT HAS ALL THE VOGUE REFINEMENTS AND COMES WITH A BRAND NEW MOT.
Shame he couldn't be arsed to at least have some LPG in the tank to prove that it works. The engine sounds like it's been run without oil, the gearbox wasn't tested as by this point i'd decided to walk on. He stated he knew nothing about how the LPG actually worked, nor did he know anything about paperwork to go with it (LPG certificates etc).
Of course, he could have been bull****ting - highly likely given that the Range Rover is for sale on his garage forecourt (Trader status not mentioned anywhere in the ad, nor on the phone - I was told to go into the village where the car was and i'd see it on the side of the road).
Took all of 5 minutes to figure all that out and get in the car and go.
Bit of a shame in some ways, the panels are all straight, the interior (aside from the boot carpet) is tidy, and the wheels are nice. Probably all of £500's worth in total as a hack to scrap in spring.
