Hello

I'm not sure if this is the right place... but I'm considering changing my TD4 for a Saab 9-3 Sport Hatch (2006 - only 36000 Kms).

Is anyone familiar with this car? What are your thoughts on this?

(My heart always tells me to buy another Landy, but I really don't have the time or tools to treat it like it should)

cim modules as GM and the older models needed engine out to weld up body as it failed in vicinity of steering
oh and gearboxes
 
Welcome to the new lz sabb site what the **** would i know about a sabb that through adverts,Apparently is linked to the aeroplanes do they have wings, or just take red bull in their fuel tanks .
 
SAAB's are great cars, very reliable, quick, comfy, great looker. Dont worry about parts, there is enough NOS stock and aftermarket suppliers for parts and they are more reliable than your average modern vehicle...

Make sure its a turbo but dont expect decent MPG (will be around the 30ish)
 
I had one of these - spent most of its life in the stealers being fixed. I woudl never buy a saab again. GM ruined them.
 
i had a 2003 saab 9-3 Very quick, comfy but thirsty for me. I know saab suffer from oil sludge. Cut a long story short the oil gets thick, blocks up the pick up strainer in the sump and starves the engine of oil then siezing it up. Plenty on the internet about it.
Make sure you get one with a very good service history and keep away from it if oil seals leak or turbo gone because these are early signs

everyone I know who has had a saab spent loads of cash keeping the old turds going
 
Right, I actually have one as a daily driver!!

Mine is a 2005 Saab 93 Vector 93 TID 150

Mine is currently on 146k and has had a few issues.

Alternator (common issue and fair;ly cheap to replace)
Intercooler (bottom part started to split. Also quite common)
Wiper Motor (quite cheap to replace and a common part)

Other than the above, its had normal servicing and returns a healthy 47mpg average. Not bad for a large car with 150bhp.

I bought mine as they were good value and I liked the shape. I also wanted the fold down seats for practicality. Its very comfy and mine has all the toys including satnav, heated seats, half leather dual zone climate control.

They are plenty of specialists about to look after them and provide parts. SaabTech in Stevenage are excellent.
 
Remove and clean the oil strainer in the sump , put some engine oil flush in and change the engine oil.
Also replace the crankcase breather pipes for modified ones.
Other than that great cars just a shame GM **** on um!

Just saw the landy drive away:Cry: At least it's going to the capable hands of a mechanic who only works on landys, so it will be well taken care of.

However, this is not a goodbye post. Neither to LR nor LZ :D

Not that I have many posts to this date, but I will still offer any knowledge that I acquired here and from my own experience.

Now I'm going to check euromillions to see if I can start looking for another landy:cool:
