Dear Defender owners,

The plastic connector on one of my fuel lines, where it connects to the fuel filter housing metal pipes is so worn out that it starts to slide under pressure (caused a loss of half a tank of diesel on a short drive). I had just replaced the filter housing with a shiny new one and now this..

I cannot find those plastic connectors (see the white arrow) sold separately. I found this photo on the internet, it's not of mine:

This forum thread maintains that those are not sold separately: https://forums.lr4x4.com/topic/86612-td5-fuel-line-connector-repairreplacement/. Can't find any part number either in the paper Workshop Manual or the lrcat and other such websites.

If they do sell them separately, can You direct me to them, if not, do You think my best bet would be to try to find a used line and cut this bit off, or to buy the whole line replace it (hopefully not too much parts to be removed to get access)..

Why not replace the 'O' ring and see if that does the trick?
If not, is there enough slack to cut the snap connector off, push the pipe on and secure it with a hose clamp?

Thanks, Oldseadog, You are helping me here too:)

The thing is I don't think the condition of the plastic connector will allow to replace the O-ring.. getting it out may end the connector's pains forever.. The hose clamp solution is very clever actually, but I am trying to keep the truck in nice shape, so that's not a long-term solution. I think I will have to go the full fuel line replacement path, if my mechanic-friend deems the O-ring untouchable..

1988smithy, thanks for the suggestion. Actually that's how I've been driving for two days, but again it's not a solution I'd like to have on for much longer:)

After thorough deliberation, I bought new fuel lines from filter assy to engine. The mechanic I work with is a trusted experienced guy, but the only Defender he's worked on, is mine. So I wanted to ask if the job of replacing these fuel lines has some trade secrets that would be beneficial to know before attempting?:)
