was at a local retail park today spotted a defender with a really odd look about it.
it had disco steel wheels on the front. and modulars on the back.but it was the difference in tyre sizes had me puzzled when i looked had 205 70 16 on front wheels and 235 85 16 on rear .i didn't think you could do that does it not wind something up difs transfer box ect and wont it make the diff lock unusable
 
Aye, that’s not a good idea; with diff lock disengaged the props will be turning at different speeds all the time and it will lead to excessive wear on the centre diff.

If he locked up his centre diff the props would turn at the same speed but the bigger tyres would want to be turning slower to cover the same distance, so either a wheel at the front of back (one with least grip) would spin at the other speed causing the tyre to scrub.

It would also probably make some interesting noises.
