Trying to sort out the wiring on my series 3. But very confused I only have side lights or diped beam. Cant seem to figure out full beam.
I replaced the engine last week but havent got it running yet so was wondering if they only work when the engine is running.

Someone let me know as the MOT is next week!

Also what the eck is the little switch for on the bottom left of the steering wheel is that diff lock? no idea what it does?
Does it pull or twist?

with a series, you should stop thinking. then you wont get confused. I stopped on the third day I got mine

At least it's not fully dark...

Ask Scotty. Cpt Kirk knows where he is

Nope. But how do you think you'll get to the MOT station without a running engine? Would be my priority... But headlights work anyway. Great for trying out your starter handle in the morning!

Herewith, I let you know. You're welcome.

Assume, you mean choke. If she's reluctant to start or dies, pull it. Orange light should come on.

Oh, nevermind.

But you sure he can read the wiring diagram? The lines might be ok, but there are such confusing things as NUMBERS. And LETTERS.
Btw, chockster, you know how you must check the new coil?
If not:
Wire up, but detach main ht lead from dizzy, put it in your mouth, sit on the wing and try to start the engine.
If it only hurts it fooked.
If its ok, you won't notice anymore.

cheers, beer getting warm.

you should have side or side and main or side and dip. The engine doesn't have to be running. If you've got dip beam the problem is in the main/dip stalk or the wiring to the lights. It's all in the wiring diagram. There is no switch to the right of the clocks, it's probably a previous owner's addition. You'll have to follow the wires.

Bring it on!
P.S cheers for the diagram will have to go through the wiring with a fine tooth comb.
There is all sorts of crazy things going on.

Do I have 2 choke cables?
One has the chocke symbol on it and the other has that cross but goes no where near the carb.

I'm always astonished at the number of people who try to sort wiring problems without the aid of a diagram. Even on something as simple as a series.....
