Hi all

Starting from the begining,
A few weeks ago found freelander not starting, on looking through forums realised that the fuel pump was not priming in the fuel tank but this has only happened twice usually after a long trip.
This week the car struggled after 2500 RPM with a loss in power again took to your forums to find lots of differing possible reasons and mods to which i am going to go through one by one in due course.
Today i thought about looking at the crankase oil breather, sure enough this was clogged up so cleaned up with fast drying solvent cleaner and what do you know i have the freelander working as normal, now from reading the posts on this forum it would appear this would not have affected the loss in power so any ideas as i'm confused?

Projects i am looking into shortly anyway will be:-

Silicon hoses
Maf sensor
EGR bypass
Fuel tank pump sender unit clean

Any advice on these would be welcome especially the silicon hoses, having trouble finding a kit to replace the 4.1 (four and a bit) hoses in the engine bay.

Thanks.
Colin.

Thanks Hippo,
On way home tonight fault returned, i still think it's the fuel pump, as when i parked up it would not turn over.
Wish me luck for the morning :)

Well i've changed the fuel pump which is not located in the fuel tank but was worthwhile taking a look as i found a piece of electrical tape in the bottom of the tank!?
and by god getting the fuel sender unit back in is a pain :)
Who at landrover thought it was a good idea to put the fuel pump behind the rear offside wheel, (top tip for haynes manual makers please state where pictures are taken) surely the pump is not in an ideal location for off-roading and body else think this?

Also fitted the pierburg MAF sensor, if not using Synergy it's a bit sluggish so not a straight swap.
Fitting a synergy unit and ERG this weekend.

Oh and top tips if doing the fuel pump when your a novice like me:-
Disconnect fule lines on the fuel sender unit on top of the fuel tank to stop fuel floe to pump and filter.
Have plenty of tarp or rags handy (nice fuel stain on drive now) :)
