Just got hold of a new propshaft with the rubber donut already fitted however being a Brit part unit it comes with a Brit part donut and I have a proper gkn one to go on.

This britpart one has the tips of the arrow pointing away from the flange it bolts to.
However the one I’ve removed had the arrows pointing towards the flange it bolts to.

When I’ve done these on BMWs the fitment is crucial to the longevity of the donut and I’m guessing this will be the same.
So should the tip of the arrow be pointing towards the flange it bolts too?

I think I remember even the Workshop Manual being inconsistent & showing both options in different views - Not great !
I changed ours only a few weeks ago after 4 years of off-road use. Definitely only worth using the OE GKN items

There's ony one way shown in my WSM

Hardy Spicer is owned by GKN. I think they mostly used GKN logo for branding

you should proove that with documents cos otherwise it's just an oppinion ... did you get this information form a forum ?

You're getting too distrusting Sierrafery - lol.
You should be able to accept that some of us have worked in the UK Automotive history for more than 30 years & know something about the various Key large companies that supply the UK car manufacturers.

Hardy Spicer in the UK is part of GKN Hardy Spicer Ltd, which is owned by GKN.
GKN no longer use the trading name of Hardy Spicer, even though the company still exists as a "shell" https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/00179750
The relevant OE parts have been sold under the company name of GKN Driveline, which is part of GKN Automotive for a few years.
There's some info on the GKN website here https://www.gknaerospace.com/en/about-gkn-aerospace/history/#timeline-8
Wikipedia gives some history - although I assume you won't believe any of it - lol

Hardy Spicer still exists as a company name in non European countries (eg India, Australia etc) - but these are separate and were never involved in supplying Land Rover in the UK)
