Hi all,
Wondering if anyone can spread some light on this condenser on my coil? See pic....
I cannot find reference to it in any of my manuals or parts manual?
I’ve got a 2.25 90 with ducellier points. And a Weber carb which as solenoids powered from the coil feed....
Is it really necessary? Especially as I’m getting a new Lucas coil.
Any info would be great!

Well Paul,
TBH it looks far too clean in there. You probably need to throw a few quarts of used engine-oil mixed with vacuum cleaner dust all over the place before anyone can recognise it as a Landy.
Other than that, I'm very sorry, I haven't a clue.
Someone sensible will be along very soon, I am sure. ;)

Ha!! It is all very clean atm as I’m just in the final stages of restoring her! Taking me a while as I don’t have a clue either!!! But am quite good at cleaning
 
Another vote for some sort of suppressor. It seems to have a wire to its central terminal and then merely earth through its casing. So it's hard to see that it would have anything to do with the ignition spark itself. You might well want to just leave it alone. After all, if it had failed in a big way you'd probably notice fuses blowing.
 
Definitely a radio interference suppressor, which you used to be able to buy from Halfords and the like.
If you have a radio, and get interference from the coil, then fit a replacement. If you don't have a radio, then bin it. ;)

Thank you everyone for taking the time to reply. Now I know what it is
Ps the radio doesn’t work at the mo, but one day it might so will keep it in for now! Not eating anything!!
