Well since I have done loads work under and inside the 90 I think it is time to have a look at the outside. I have fitted a new N/S wing to replace the one with a huge dent in it and am in the position to paint it. I am also in a position that I have some of the skills to be able to completely repaint it.

At the moment it is in green (don't know which shade to be honest as it is quite faded in places) but I would like to change its colour completely but after hours of looking I can't decide. I was going to go for Rover Nightfire Red but think it might not look right, then I was looking at Storm Grey Metallic but just can't make my mind up.

I am also thinking about resale value in the future so don't want to go mad with the colour scheme. Any one have any good photo's of a pick up in the 2 colours of choice?

Photo below of the colour she is now.

I recently saw a 110 that had been re-sprayed in 2 Pac using an original Land Rover grey with a cream roof and wheels to match. That's my choice.

Same colour as mine, Beige!

Well, beige where it's original .. previous owner/s have sprayed it other colours over time, some not as close a match as I'd like .. ;)

Beige! Might as well be sucking Werther's Original Mints as you drive along listening to the Seekers' Hits of the sixties on the way to the Garden Centre. Orange, well, as much as I admire Flossie's motor and it could be easily found in a snow drift on top of the Long Mynnd. Go for the original Land Rover Grey. There's nothing wrong with 'traditional' and when you eventually move it on you'll recoup the cost.

I will be honest, the beige isn't doing it for me, sorry Paul.

Heheh, it didn't for me, but it grows on you. One of these days I'll get it properly colour matched and make a good job of it ..

Ivancrx is probably going to go down the traditional Land Rover grey route. See how his turns out.

Mercedes do a nice metallic elbaite green in 2016 range, not far from land rover colours but newer

What you've got there is an early 90 in relatively original-looking condition. These are getting rarer, so my advice is to keep it standard where you can. Rather than trying to modernise its appearance, treat it as the old bus that it is and keep it original.

I actually like the 80s go-faster stripes down the side, so IMO they should stay. :)

sorry as this is off toppic for the post but what wheels and tyres are on the beige defender? they look like the size id like on mine.
regarding origional post....id leave it green if it was mine, but they look great in either white, light blue or grey/beige. my least favourite colour is red, (thats the colour of mine)

Malatesta Kaiman, 235/85/16 on Steel Modulars .. bought as a package from tyres Direct a few years ago. They're remoulds but are pretty damn good!!

There you go Ivancrx A full range of ideas (even Wammers). Whatever you choose, it'll be right (if it's grey). :)

Original all the way! Although, this is my opinion on all older Landies facing the threat of modernisation-by-painting! Keep the decals and keep an original colour ( not necessarily the original colour ). Original-looking Landies are getting rarer, decent decal kits are even rarer, save the stickers!
In years to come it will stand out of the crowd of newly-painted Defenders which could be [ undistiguishably ]between 25 and 2.5 years old!
