Hi all

Just put a deposit down on a 2002 V8 Vogue. Black. Blue leather cream piping. Nav. Rear DVD screens. 84k miles. FSH. New air compressor and air cushions.

Very tidy and been well looked after.

Couple of niggles...

Passenger cup holder stuck in
New rear pads needed
Tracking out

It hasnt got running boards. I have seen i like from 4x4 direct. Are they easy enough to fit?

Cheers

At that mileage - hows the gearbox?

Well the boxes aint to bad on the petrols as the gm boxes on the doozles

Either way, I would want to Change the oil and filter if it hasn't been done already

I assume from the model year that this is a P38 and not a L322. If so and its a 4.6l the gearbox will be fine. Even the 4.0l and doozals have pretty reliable gearbox fitted. The L322 box does appear to run into problems around the 80k mark.

I'm gonna guess it a L322 as the passenger cup holder is stuck in....dunno about L322's, but the P38 all in middle as far as I have seen.....

At a guess, running boards should be easy, done a D3 without hassle.....

not wanting to scare the boy before he's even got it... but i assume as it's an early model you checked the recall work had been done on the drive shaft or an appropriate mod coupling fitted?

There's a proper LR retrofit for the cup holder for P38. After much searching I found it, the one that sits in the hole in the dash. Has two deep cup holders that you wont knock over with your elbow ;)

Get the part number for you in a bit

Thanks all.

Its the L322 Aug 02 model.

I am the 8th owner... So its been around a bit. I did some research and heard about the oil burner gearbox issues so opted for the petrol as, so im told is a BMW engine a gearbox. Looking at the service book until a few years ago has main dealer history so hoping the recall work you mention was done.

The engine is sweet. The gearbox was smooth and the tip tronic ok.

Tracking needs sorting as the steering wheel is off kilter slightly.

I put it through its paces and gave it a thorough check over... But like any car something can go wrong at anytime.

Good luck !
I'm sure you will love it either way ! Even when they break down there worth the hassle ! Lol

Gearbox is not BMW they don't make gearboxes. It will be a ZF5HP methinks:)

Yeah and "sealed for life" however short that may be, naughty boys could change the oil anyway - think it was the same on my X5

OP: Small issue compared with stuck in cup-holders:):welcome:

Just got it home. Drove very well on the motorway even got 24mpg!!!

I have noticed a couple of other things now

The PDC has a constant beep tone. So I assumed faulty but the handbook states that if faulty there will be a long tone and the PDC light will flash... There is a tone but no flashing light?

Also, when I parked up there was water dripping from the nearside rear wheel arch. Which seemed strange. I checked the spare wheel compartment and there is quite a bit of water in there... Im baffled any ideas?

Oh the gearbox appears to be perfect so far anyway :)

The PDC tone means one of your sensors are broken
The water in the spare wheel compartment is probably water from the sunroof that leaks and runs into there.

Something to keep you busy ;)
